A Broader Conversation About Cancer Care with Dr. Nathan Goodyear

Every person deserves a doctor who never stops asking, "What else might help?"

Speaking Truth to Build Trust

When people hear the word "cancer," fear often arrives before understanding. That is why one of Dr. Goodyear's greatest responsibilities is education.

A cancer diagnosis can change your world in an instant. Unfamiliar words, impossible decisions, more information than anyone could process alone. It is easy to feel like you've lost your footing.

Dr. Nathan Goodyear believes that medicine should bring clarity where there is confusion, hope where there is fear, and partnership where people too often feel alone.

Media & Speaking

Some of the most meaningful conversations happen outside the clinic. Through podcasts, interviews, conferences and publications, Dr. Goodyear works with leading voices in oncology to share research, challenge assumptions, and push the conversation about cancer.

Medicine has been my life's work. Learning has always been my life's habit.

He has one leg crossed over the other and is wearing white sneakers. There is a wooden side table with black legs next to the sofa. A large abstract painting is hung on the wall behind him in a minimalist living room.
The Doctor is in —

For more than three decades, I've practiced at the intersection of rigorous oncology and integrative care, working with patients, fellow physicians, and researchers who share that same standard. Every recommendation I make begins with one question: "What does the science tell us today, and how can we use it to help the person sitting in front of me?"

I believe medicine to be the ultimate profession. It is the blend of science and art. Science builds the structural foundation. Art is the application of that science to meet the heterogeneity of each individual. I believe being a physician is walking in the footsteps of the original physician.

Medicine is at a crossroads. Doctors have forgotten their original purpose. As a result, the doctor-patient relationship is broken. Patients are not the reason for this separation.

My belief is simple: doctors are both healers and teachers. Every patient deserves thoughtful care and a physician as committed to learning as they are to helping.
